PSJA ISD is a progressive school district in the
Rio Grande Valley. The district offers an extensive well-rounded
curriculum for the students of the PSJA area. PSJA offers a
strong academic program for students in all grade levels and the
comprehensive curriculum includes Fine Arts, UTL Activities,
Career and Technology and Athletics. PSJA’s Advanced Placement
Program and the Concurrent Enrollment Program with UTPA and STC
allows students to earn college credits.
Alamo schools consist of 6 Elementary Schools,
Bowie, Capt D Salinas II, Franklin, Gus Guerra, North Alamo, and
Zeferino Farias. There is one Middle School, Alamo Middle School
and one High School, PSJA Memorial. The city has one Private
School, Valley Christian Heritage School.
Bowie Elementary School has been nominated for
the 2009 No Child Left Behind-Blue Ribbon School. PSJA ISD
received a $400,000 grant from the AT&T Aspire Success Special
Program. PSJA’s College Career & Technology Academy is one
of the 12 programs honored in the Texas School of Business
magazine second annual Bragging Rights issue. PSJA opened its
new T-STEM early College High School in August of 2008 which
houses 112 freshman committed to their academic career.
Claudia Pena of North Alamo Elementary School
was selected as a 2008 Milken National Educator Award recipient.
